Formal offer of a place at Poundswick (1965).
John McKenna (1965-72) sent us the document below, which is formal notification of an offer of a place at Poundswick as a result of him passing his eleven-plus. Note that the form is addressed Dear Sir, i.e. it was addressed to the pupil's father, and that in order to accept the offer it was necesary for the father to appear in person at the school on a specific date and time to sign an agreement. Failure to turn up meant no place at the school; no messing about!
