Tasmania. Motorcycle Choice.

Posted on April 13, 2020

Practicality. Sensible. Not words I personally link to motorcycles, in the past this may have been the case as a student the motorcycle was ridden every day, rain, sunshine, sleet, snow, touring, Sunday riding, commuting. Now I have a car, when I lived in the city I rode the train. Over the years I have compartmentalised transport, trains work well in the city, cars work well for hauling stuff, people and dogs around in comfort. Motorcycles ...

Lotus Elise: Expectations and Actuations

Posted on October 6, 2019

Before I start a notation. I've been reminded that the Elise 111 Sport was a harder core version of the Elise. Track Oriented as it were. The prose below are my personal views of the vehicle I had. Each to their own. I liked many elements of the car but at the wash up at the end of the day, for the roads in Tasmania, for the reasons I specifically wanted the car for it didn't do what I, personally, wanted it to do. Others will have different ...

Review: 2009 KTM 690 Duke

Posted on November 7, 2016

I've owned my KTM Duke for almost six years now and in the world of motorcycle ownership I'd suggest that six years is considered a long time to own one bike. Certainly its twice as long as any previous bike I've owned so I must like it then? Well lets get some perspective first. The last bike I owned for any time was a VFR750. It was great. Posted on February 27, 2015

We have now owned our X5 for over three years. I thought it was about time to do a little review especially as I was thinking about adding up all the various bills that have accrued in an effort to see just how much its cost over that time. Our vintage 2003 3.0i Sport may be two a penny around the streets of Melbourne but lets not forget this was a car with a retail price of $85k in base form so with the optional extras some poor soul ...

Outlook.com

Posted on March 20, 2014

I'm not a manager and hence I don't really do meetings. I've never been a manager and I've never really done meetings. So when there is a meeting planned and I have eight desktops, 30 applications and 54 windows/tabs open is not really surprising that I miss it. So what I need is an email/SMS notification to my phone 5 minutes before the meeting. Outlook being the default enterprise email and calendar solution can't do this. Seriously? ...

Moving House

Posted on January 15, 2014

The downgrade from fully detached to semi detached is underway. House 2.0 is now up and running. Larger front door, comfy bedding, new driveway and all fully secured to the side of the main house. I guess it might be my pommy-ness that makes our local ring-tailed possums such a joy to watch. Most Australians seem to see them as vermin but unlike the brush tailed, our ring-tailed are quite small and mostly pretty quiet with only the occasional ...
